Description of the Master of Arts in Missiology and Intercultural Studies

The Master of Arts in Missiology and Intercultural Studies degree is designed to equip students for service as a minister in the area of missions in the local church, leadership in missions, both foreign and home, or a director or leader in a local community ministry agency. This degree requires 60 semester hours of academic credit for graduation.

Objectives

In addition to the College’s general educational objectives, the. Master of Arts in Missiology and Intercultural Studies degree is designed to promote growth toward personal maturity and ministry competence within a church or missions related ministry. Upon completion of the degree the student will be well equipped to evaluate and critique missiological issues and provide leadership in a variety of ministry contexts.

Admission Requirements

All applicants to any master degree program must be at least 20 years old by the time of their first registration, and must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor degree or equivalent (see the Catalog for full details and exceptions).

Completion Requirements

In order to qualify for graduation from Mid-America College, each student seeking the Master of Arts in Missiology and Intercultural Studies degree must satisfy the “General Requirements for Graduation” of the College. In addition, each student seeking the Master of Arts in Missiology and Intercultural Studies degree must complete the 60 semester hours of courses specified in the Degree Audit Worksheet.

MASTER OF ARTS IN APOLOGETICS

Designed for the person engaged in student, collegiate, or evangelist parachurch ministry. This degree provides a robust survey of apologetics with an emphasis on how to clearly and respectfully explain the Christian faith to those who believe differently.

MASTER OF ARTS IN BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Equips students for service as: 1) a biblical counselor in the local church; 2) a minister in the area of biblical counseling in a parachurch organization or Christian school; or 3) a minister in the area of discipleship training in the local church.

MASTER OF ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Equips students for service as a minister of education, minister of youth, minister to children, or administrator in the local church; a missionary in areas of church ministries; or a teacher or administrator in a church-related school.

MASTER OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY

Equips students for service in a supportive role in the local church. Provides students with a solid theological foundation for ministry.
